Signing of MOU between Eurepean Union and Equity Bank
Earlier today, Principal Secretary for Science, Research and Innovation, Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the European Union and Equity Bank at Equity Centre, Nairobi.
The partnership is focused on advancing human capital development through investments in skills enhancement, education, training, and capacity building aimed at preparing Kenya's workforce for emerging economic opportunities.
The collaboration is expected to support initiatives that empower youth, strengthen technical and vocational skills, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance employability in key sectors of the economy.
The agreement aligns with Kenya's broader development agenda of leveraging human capital as a driver of innovation, productivity, and sustainable economic growth.
Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak noted that science, research and innovation are critical enablers of human capital development, providing the knowledge, technologies and skills needed to drive economic transformation. He emphasized that investments in research, innovation and STEM education equip young people with the competencies required to thrive in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.
The Principal Secretary further observed that strengthening human capital through science and innovation enhances productivity, fosters entrepreneurship, supports evidence-based decision-making, and positions Kenya to compete effectively in the global knowledge economy.
