PS Shaukat Congratulates International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Its Commendable Work in Advancing Peaceful Applications of Nuclear Science and Technology
Principal Secretary Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak, PhD, EBS, has commended the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for its remarkable work in harnessing nuclear science and technology for peaceful development and the benefit of humanity.
Speaking during the IAEA’s 70th General Conference in Vienna, Austria where he accompanied Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale, EGH, Prof. Shaukat reaffirmed Kenya’s strong commitment to the peaceful, safe and secure application of nuclear science and technology as a catalyst for sustainable development.
The Principal Secretary praised the IAEA for the progress it continues to make in translating its “Atoms for Peace and Development” vision into tangible benefits for communities around the world. He highlighted initiatives in cancer care through Rays of Hope, food and agriculture through Atoms4Food, water-resource management, nuclear safety and security, as well as emerging applications in energy and innovation, under the leadership of DG Mariano Grossi.
Prof. Shaukat further reaffirmed Kenya’s deep appreciation for its longstanding partnership with the IAEA, noting that the Agency’s Technical Cooperation Programme continues to strengthen national capacity, institutions and human capital.
He said the partnership remains important in advancing Kenya’s priorities in health, food security, climate resilience and sustainable development, while supporting the country’s efforts to harness nuclear science and technology for the wellbeing of its people.
Kenya remains committed to working closely with the IAEA and other international partners to ensure that nuclear science and technology continue to deliver practical solutions to development challenges.
